Hair Care Beauty Routines

Hair care. Here are a few tips I’ve come across:

  • Cut down on shampooing – wash your hair 3 times a week
    • For active girls, you can still get your hair wet – just rinse and then condition the ends on the days you don’t shampoo
  • Use a small amount of shampoo – about the size of a quarter is enough
  • After conditioning, rinse your hair with cold water
  • Let your hair air dry whenever you can, and don’t brush your hair until it is dry
  • Brush your hair every night, from roots to ends, with a natural bristle brush – this helps distribute the oils
  • Once a week, treat your hair – moisturize the ends with jojoba, almond, or coconut oil; after shampooing, towel dry and apply oil, mid shaft to ends (if you wash your hair in the morning, apply moisturizer and then put hair up in bun or braid)
  • Use natural shampoos and conditioners
  • Hydrate yourself – water is wonderful
  • Once a month, give your hair a deep cleanse to help remove product buildup
    • You know the tiny white specks you’ll get in your hair near your scalp? It’s not dandruff, it’s product buildup (dandruff is when you get big patches of white on your scalp)
    • I use a baking soda scrub once a month – just mix 1 tablespoon with your shampoo, massage into your scalp and roots, and rinse with warm water

So, what’s the routine:

Daily: In the evening, brush your hair with a natural bristle brush

Weekly: Shampoo your hair 3 times a week (use natural shampoos, and dry shampoo on your off days); Give your hair a deep treatment after towel drying your hair (use a natural moisturizer like coconut oil)

Monthly: Give your hair a deep cleanse (use products like baking soda or apple cider vinegar), and do so in the shower

Happy hair care!
